FAQs

Here are some questions that should hopefully answer any queries you have about the LiftSafe register.

If you cannot find what you are looking for, please do get in touch.

Registration

How do I register?

STEP 1: You simply need to create an account. During registration we will ask you to provide specific information about you and your company. This will include providing copies of requested valid certifications for auditing though this can be done later if you don’t have them to hand. During registration you’ll also need to set a password and pay for your 12-month subscription.

Once registered you will receive an email confirmation with a link to log in to your account where you can access and manage your details.

STEP 2: Add your engineers. Each company registration is entitled to register one engineer for free. If you wish to add more, select ‘Add Engineer’ (Additional engineers cost £30.00 incl VAT). When registering each engineer, simply complete the requested information and upload copies of their certifications/qualifications. Please note that you can add additional engineers at any time, but their registrations will be part of the annual renewal of your company account.

STEP 3: Once you believe you have completed your registration and uploaded copies of all documentation, click the ‘Submit for Review’ button. This will send us an alert to review your registration. We will then audit your company and engineer information based on what you provided, including all certifications and qualifications. If all looks good, we will activate your listing to appear on the site! (You will be notified by email with the good news).

STEP 4: Within the first 12 months of your registration, we will also carry out an annual on-site audit of your company to ensure you comply with all health and safety regulations. We will contact you to arrange the audit, and once completed we will update your listing to show the date in which it was carried out. You will be notified via email with a copy of the audit and to let you know your account is now certified.

Qualifications & Verification

Do you have a list of the company and engineer qualifications that you accept?

Yes, you can view the list here.

What if I have other qualifications / certifications not on your list?

We have included the option for both company and engineer registration to submit additional documents, certificates and qualifications (such as those not issued in the UK). If you have any queries regarding sending us additional documentation, please email us.

Do we need to provide all the certifications / qualifications listed?

No, however please provide as many of the qualifications listed that you have. Please be aware though that there are minimum requirements for different engineer roles which you can view here. There are no minimum requirements for the company.

Do we need to include the expiry date of each certificate / qualification?

Please ensure you set any expiry dates shown on all certifications or qualifications that you upload. And remember to update these with newly issued documents before they expire (as any expired documents will put your listing under review and potential suspension until new documents are uploaded).

If any document you upload does not have an expiry date, please check the box marked ‘Does not expire’.

What if one of my company certificates / engineer qualifications is about to expire?

You will receive an email alert 30 days before a qualification is about to expire. You will be required to upload your new certification once received. If any certifications or qualifications expire, then there is a risk that the company or engineer may be disabled from the register by admin. If this happens, your listing can be enabled at a later date once you’ve updated the required documentation (this will be visible in your account when logged in).

What happens if I do not meet the LiftSafe criteria?

We will send you an email that outlines what you need to do. If you need to discuss your options, then you can get in touch with us here.

When I sign up do I need supply all evidence of certifications / qualifications for the company and individual engineers straight away?

Any required company documentation can be uploaded either during the initial registration sign up form stage or managed in your account after your registration is completed. You can add individual engineer registrations & upload applicable certificates / qualifications from your company account page. Please note, however, that your listing will not appear on the LiftSafe Register until you have completed your account and clicked the ‘Submit for Review’ button for us to verify everything is in order.

Do our certifications / qualifications need to be in a particular format?

We accept a number of file formats including: PDF, DOC, DOCX, JPG, JPEG, PNG, WEBP, HEIC, GIF & BMP.

How long does the verification process take?

The timeframe to review your account is two weeks.

What happens once I become verified?

You will receive a confirmation email with the good news to say you are now live on the website. You will also receive a LiftSafe registration certificate which includes your company name, registration ID Number, date of registration and expiry date. We will also email you a LiftSafe Accredited emblem which you can use on your uniform, company vehicles, website and so on.

How can I use the LiftSafe accredited emblem?

You can use the emblem in your marketing, on your uniform and on company vehicles.

Engineer Listings

Can I register more than one engineer at a time?

Yes there is no limit on the number of engineers you can add to your company listing. Each additional engineer costs £30.00 (inc.VAT) to register, with annual renewal at the time of your company renewal date.

Do you offer a discount for adding more engineers?

No, although never say never. You do however get one engineer free as part of your initial company registration. Additional engineers cost £30.00 (incl.VAT) each.

Can I register an engineer at a later date?

Yes, in your company account area you will be able to add additional engineers at any time. However, please note that all additional engineer registration fees will be payable as part of your annual company renewal.

What happens if one of my engineers moves company?

If your engineer moves to another LiftSafe registered company, the new company should contact us with your engineer registration number to request a transfer. We will confirm with all the relevant parties about the move and if all checks out, our team will reallocate the engineer profile to the new company.

What happens if I forget to update an expired qualification certificate for one of my engineers?

You will receive an automated email notification to remind you about the renewal of each uploaded qualification prior to expiry. If you fail to upload the updated documentation before it expires then we will be alerted and we may suspend the engineer from your listing until the new documents are added.

Annual On-site Audit

What happens at the on-site audit?

We will be following a standard checklist covering a number of health and safety aspects and safe working practices. For instance, we will be looking at whether engineers are wearing the correct PPE, are they working to the method statements, are they on the register? Etc. For an example of the audit, click here.

When will the on-site audit take place?

The audit will take place within a year after you have been verified – during this time your business listing will say ‘Audit pending’. You will be provided with a copy of the audit once it is completed. The date of your audit will also be visible on your business listing.

What happens if I (the engineer) fail the audit?

If we find anything untoward at the audit then we will notify the main contractor with the problem in question. You may also be suspended from the register. We will contact you to advise on improvements following the audit should you fail and how you can be reinstated.

Renewals

How can I renew my registration?

By default, new company registrations will be set to auto-renew every 12 months (With any additional engineer registrations also renewing at this time). Though you do have the option in your company account to turn off auto-renew if you prefer to action this manually. You will receive an email 30 days prior to the end of your yearly subscription with an alert about your renewal.

What is the annual renewal fee?

You will be required to pay an annual company renewal fee of £144 (incl. VAT), plus £30.00 (incl. VAT) per engineer. For information on all our fees click here.

What happens if my payment card has expired so could not be renewed?

Other

Yes, you can find out more about training on our requirements page.

What if I want to cancel my subscription?

If you wish to delete your account, which removes all your data from the site (you will no longer have an account to log in to), there is an option to delete your account in your admin.
